Whinned out of the house! Way to cheer up my wife when her day is ruined by a store not having a dress she wants?

She saw a pretty blue shirt with a picture like this. She loves dragons and wanted it! The store did not have her size and she whinned about it for a week. Her whole nice day was ruined! The date before shopping meant nothing!

All she wanted was a shirt that ti ordered online for her latter as a surprise.

Is there a way to make her happy or get her mind off the one thing? Cause I'll just not go shopping after a romantic date any more of her week is ruined by something so simple for so long.

Personally, I don’t believe in reward bad conduct. WHINING like a petulant brat would not have resulted in my getting it for her, that’s for sure.

That really sucks. I don't think I could handle that kind of person myself, but everyone has different preferences and abilities, so I hope you relationship is fulfilling and supportive in other wise.

Having said that, my default advice would be talking to her about how her complaining, etc makes you uncomfortable, but I don't know if that would work with someone of your wife's description. I'm assuming the goal is more instead to just bribe her into a good mood somehow. I say a skit thing on insta that was basically a guy saying "You'll never guess where we're going for dinner tonight" and then just has her guess until it's something he considers do-able. It's like, kind of manipulative, but like also not in a evil way, and may work on someone with your wife's personality. Something along those lines of a script like "I know you're disappointed about X, but you'll never guess what we're going to do/I'm going to get you to make you feel better" and then just have her guess a couple times until it's something doable if it isn't on the first try. (Keep a back-up option that she usually likes in mind though just in case she only guesses stuff that isn't going to work and you need to abort, or she isn't in the mood to guess.)

Ideally though, would just be to have a good conversation about it and work on changing the behavior in some manner so that it's less common or at least less of a problem, because you don't deserve to be treated badly just because she's in a bad mood. In the mean-time, kindhearted manipulation for the win, I guess?

Kinda divided on if it's manipulative or just controlling the conversation.

W ehave talked and she has whinned less. My sister whines more just to bug me lol.

Well I told her to order it when we got back but she did not want to. I ordered it a few months later for a gift.
