Was I wrong for doing this?

I was talking to this one guy I met off a dating app. We seemed to hit it off really well at first. There was definitely a connection, and then he went silent for weeks.

Last night, he sent me a message saying how he's been having a tough time and "took a break" from his phone. I was thinking, "That's BS." it's 2024. I don't believe that for a second, that he put his phone away for 3 weeks lol.

So, my theory is that he was talking with someone else. He got into them, that's why he stopped messaging me, then that didn't work out, so now he resorted back to me.

I said, "It seems to me that something didn't work out with someone else, and you resorted back to me. I wish you the best, have a good one. "

I'm sorry, but I'm not a second option or the backburner. That's just pretty shitty.

Granted, we lived far away from each other. It didn't seem to bother him, but maybe it did after he thought about it.
