If I ask a girl out and she says "I'll let you know" should I wait and ask her again?

My brother and an aunt of mine told me I should wait for 2 weeks and then tell her something like "hey, you forgot to tell me when we can hang out".

They recommended me to do that because she could've forgotten due to her schedule.

I know you guys will say "she is turning down" or something like that because, hey, we always have to think the worse and we can never be positive, right? Hahahahaha but asking you guys is a risk I'm willing to take... so, what do you think?

Could be that she has a busy schedule and just can't commit to anything yet or needs time to prepare.

Indeed as you've said it doesn't necessarily mean 'the worst' and that's she is fobbing you off.

So yeah, I agree with your brother and aunt. I'd say it is better to be patient and wait than to rush and look desperate.

Could be after a week too I should think... Just give her some days; if you wait too long you could also give her the impression that you weren't genuine.

There isn't really an easy 'opinion' here.

The question would be more are you prepared to take the risk with the chance you might get turned down? I know your feelings direct you to her now, but, if things don't work out, there are always more fish in the sea.

I have proven, in the past, that I am a coward when it comes down to asking a girl out; I've always dealt with rejections very badly (Medical/ Mental health related), so in the end I would forgo asking a girl out all together. My teens/ twenties have been really difficult and I couldn't 'get a girl', but I know I cannot place the blame squarely on females. Maybe I was too insecure and it showed; or I simply pursued the 'wrong' (as in not compatible) girls; many factors played a role of course.

I think you should take the risk, it's only once anyway. Just be prepared for another excuse and if it happens again then that's your hint that she doesn't really want to go out with you.
