Why are women so eager to get into a relationship?

I (34M) went on a second date with a girl (31F) and I’d been really enjoying her company and getting to know her. This evening, we hangout and she asks what I’m looking for. I tell her that I don’t know if I want a relationship being that I just got out of a six year relationship four months ago, so right now I’m just enjoying her company and getting to know her.

An hour ago, when I texted her following the date and trying to check her availability to hang out again, she pretty much says that she doesn’t think that we’re on the same page and doesn’t want to hang out anymore. What ever happened to getting to know people and letting things happen organically?

You told her that you didn't want a relationship. That means with her. You basically said that you wanted to keep shopping.

She probably thinks that a relationship/going steady is how you get to know someone. She didn't ask for a marriage proposal.

When I liked a girl enough to start dating her, I quit dating other girls. I gave her my full attention. To do otherwise would be disrespectful.

Why are you even dating? What are you looking for? A platonic friend? A friends with benefits? Are you hoping to get back with your ex?

She was probably 1) insulted and 2) figured that you are a waste of time.
It sounds like she has self esteem and isn't desperate. She wants someone who values her enough to want to get to know her without playing the field at the same time.

There's nothing wrong with playing the field if that's what you want to do. But she wants a steady relationship with someone who is serious about finding a girlfriend. She wants infatuation and romance with someone who thinks she is amazing. And she no doubt wants to get married once she finds the right partner.

So, it seems that the problem is, you two aren't a good match.

You said you don't know that you want a relationship. That uncertainty is what probably scared her away. Tell the next person you are looking for a relationship but want time to get to know her first.

There’s nothing wrong with getting to know each other. However, it’s clear she wants something more while you don’t. Neither of you are bad for wanting something but, like someone said in the comments, maybe you two aren’t a good match.
She was honest and same with you. I get it’s quite scary to start over after getting out of a 6 year relationship but she doesn’t want to waste her time either. So maybe find someone who’s on the same page as you, if you choose to date someone else.

Maybe she is afraid she just wasting her time with u, because u both don’t have the same intentions. She is looking for relationship, and you are not. If she keeps hangout with u, she will just close chances for other guy who wants to know her. And she gets nothing from u, so yeah it’s pretty good for her to just stay away from u and get someone who have the same pages.
