I am 27 and he is 56.

That is too much. There may be some very rare exceptions though.

56 is almost ready to retire. 27 is just entering adult life. They are in vastly different places in life.

The younger person is the one missing out. There are stages of life, and it's just not fair to take away those stages from someone. For the younger person, they might not realize what they are missing.

Well, you can be incompatible with someone your own age, so since you're both adults, I would say no. It's about compatibility and personal chemistry.

He could be your father and that’s if he got started on the later side. A man that age has nothing in common with someone of yours. He’s lived through all this, lives his life and should settle down with a woman closer to his age. This looks borderline grooming to be almost 60 and talking to someone your age.

It is. I generally say age gaps are fine. If both have the view it s a short term relationship than maybe.

Truth is though at 27 you are best looking for an enduring relationship, especially if you want children.
