Can I be in love with someone I’m not fully attracted to?

I've dated someone who made me feel deeply understood, cared for, and supported, even though I wasn't initially drawn to his appearance. Over time, his personality, kindness, and shared moments made me feel a stronger emotional connection, which sometimes outweighs the need for physical attraction. This internal conflict made me ask myself if true love requires both or if emotional intimacy alone is enough to sustain a relationship. What do you think?

I fell inlove with someone who i friendzoned for 6 years. I was used to going for meatheads and completely changed my game up and got married to my red head best friend who was less attractive. When we were young and just friends, he got a girlfriend.. i hated it! and he was NOT my type! i had no idea why... the answer would be, PURE LOVE. (the longer i've been with him the more attractive he has become) and now i get a little envious every time i think somebody's gawking at him. (this is somebody who is not generally attractive to everybody aka my husband)!!! He is the most beautiful man to me and when i look at him i want to rip all of his clothes off! so i would say you can completely fall in love with someone who you are not attracted to. And if you do, I consider that extremely lucky.. Because looks fade.

If the physical attraction is never there it's never going to work. Sometimes I'll become emotionally attached to someone and then they become physically attractive to them, but if they don't, I would never do it.

Sometimes physical attraction will grow as emotional attraction grows, but you need to have both to make a relationship work longer term.

The only piece of advice I would give is to make sure that you don't fall into the trap that a lot of people do, where they assume that love needs to be this immediate lightning strike feeling. That's a sign of instability and uncertainty in the relationship. That's not what you want for anything longer term.

This is totally valid. I consider it love. From what I understand, it's more typical for women than it is for men, but it's still possible for both.
(I don't have enough anecdotal experience to know how likely it's sustainable)

Yes, its unrealistic to be attracted to someone in every way. Your probably not going like everything about someone you love, but you accept what you love about them along with what you don't. Only you can decide that.

You might just have to accept your too shallow to be with a guy in your league. If you were younger I'd say you just needed to mature a bit. But I don't think this is changing if you're this old.
