Sure. It might depend on the man's circumstances. It might be possible this man is temporarily homeless or else needs to couch surf until he finds a place or some other situation. There is a slight chance this ex could be somebody he is still having sex with, whether this person is was an ex-married or just ex-girlfriend or ex-boyfriend, but that would take further probing on your end. If unsure, you don't have to have sex with this man until you have some confidence that he isn't lying to you. I'm not saying assume he's a liar but there are men out in this world who explain away such circumstances purely because they are bored in their relationships or they want to leave it. Men nowadays have this manner about them that suggests that this is probable more than not. I don't know him, personally, so, you'll have to perhaps ask or engage in conversation with this ex. If he doesn't want you to talk to her then you'll have reasonable doubt that they probably are sleeping together or still attached in some way, legally or personally.

  I wouldn't count my stars or make room for hope if he's adamant you don't talk to this ex to clarify whatever he said to you. I suggest you back out as risking dating an already attached man could beckon a possible crazy girlfriend or ex-married to be at your doorstep or in your face. Oh, yeah, men don't consider this a possibility at all but it happens all the time.
