What would cause a guy to ghost after a great date?

Why does a guy ghost after a great date? By great, I mean a first date that lasted several hours with strong chemistry, and losing track of quite a bit of time. A date that was simply supposed to be coffee but turned into a dinner. And then absolutely nothing.

No clue, I'd never ghost someone. I know how much it can bother someone.
I've been ghosted once after an amazing date.
Lots of texting, great chemistry.
A whole day of fun with some of her friends (my suggestion so she'd feel comfortable), ending in a kiss before I boarded the train.
A few more loving messages back and forth on my way home and then, nothing.
I was blocked and my calls and texts ignored.
One of her friends called me after a few days just to tell me to leave her alone and that she didn't owe me an explanation.
Honestly, it's still in the back of my mind to this day. It's been 17 years.

Can't say I relate to that but I believe the feeling is the same of a heart break which I relate to. The fact that it's been years says it doesn't hurt as it did before I'm glad you got through that and I can say something similar happened to me and music became a part of my life that's why I'm a hip-hop fan tdy cause Juice WRLD's music got me through the most intense heart-break which was intense cause I basically saw her everyday in class that's why music helps

That's not ghosting. That's just not asking for a second date. Maybe it would be more polite to send a final message "Hi. It was nice to meet you but I don't think we're a good match. Best wishes."

How is that not ghosting? That's the textbook definition of ghosting 😅

I suppose but I think of ghosting as something that happens after a relationship that is longer than one date. However, I won't chat except to set up an initial meeting. A woman who isn't ready to meet isn't ready to date.

Why is not important. He hasn't contacted you. Don't ever wait for someone to decide about you. Date other people.

Anyway, just because you enjoyed the date and he was pleasant doesn't mean he thought you were someone he wanted to see again. It just means he knows how to keep up a conversation with a stranger.

The reasons could be many. If you want good for yourself, abandon the guy, even if he turns up later. You don't want to be a second choice.
