Do you think people are shallow when they talk about "being out of someone league" or "dating up?

They are always talking about looks or income. You never hear intelligence or character mentioned.

I don't think they're shallow. I think it's a realistic and pragmatic approach as well as offering the brain a embedded excuse for a defense mechanism as to why the anticipated rejection occurred and it'll give a great endorphin and dopamine hit when they're success.

I ignore those concepts and have dated a few wonderful ladies because other guys thought exactly that.

Most the time, yes. Occasionally it refers to the petsons actual quality as a person. But the vast majority it's used to define someone's physical attractiveness.
