It's not about competition, but insecurity; a lot of women don't want a man until he's been "vetted" by gaining the approval of other women. Ask any married guy; he'll tell you he gets a lot more female attention when he goes out wearing a wedding ring.

Better yet, assert similar points online, and see how many women respond to them with "Says who?". A lot of it is probably in-born, but I think the primary cause is still us a society raising our daughters with no confidence in themselves.

Assuming you're talking about the top 10% of men, yeah why marry when you have women throwing them selves at you all the time. To men like that most women are just a pump and dump.
