2.5K opinions shared on Dating topic. I don't. It implies that the person has an idealized perception of another. It is what happens when a person becomes infatuated. They think the other person is perfect in every way. But infatuation eventually fades.
Mutual infatuation is the most wonderful feeling in the world. It is the feeling that people associate with love. But, once you get to know each other better, you begin to see each other as people, flaws and all. If you see their true behaviors, habits, idiosyncrasies, lifestyle, etc. and still adore them, infatuation may transform into true love.
Instead of idealizing someone, two people ideally respect, admire, adore and love each other for who they truly are.
Putting someone on a pedestal would mean putting them in a position of superiority instead of equality - dominant versus submissive. You would let them take advantage of you. You would grovel like an adoring pet dog.
And idealizing someone puts them in the awkward position of having to live up to your perception, which is impossible since everyone has flaws. So, when you inevitably see a chink in their armor, your rose-colored glasses fall away, and you will feel let down. Your false image of them is shattered.00 Reply

Absolutely nothing. We're all human beings with our own pros and cons, and we all deserve to be loved and respected, but in reasonable moderation. Showering someone with affection unnecessary for the most trivial of things will only chase them away from you further

1 yWhen they are doing everything right if they are doing things and you don’t have to ask active service is one of my love languages. If they do no wrong in your eyes because even their flaws make them stronger because they’re trying to change and do better. I’ve done this with my father.

Anonymous(36-45)1 yWhenever someone does this they are usually in love with the image of what they person. In love with the fantasy. But not in love with the real person.
So if you are lucky enough to get in a relationship with that person you are setting yourself up for a major disappointment. It’s very dangerous. It’s also not fair to the other person because once reality hits the person feels “betrayed”.
I’ve twice dated women who were in love with the “fantasy” of what they thought I was. It ended horribly in both instances. I did nothing to impress these women either.
That’s not to say you shouldn’t boost up the person. Of course you should. But it better be reciprocated.

1 yUtter stupidity. Putting anyone on a pedestal is just hiding your insecurities under the guise of respect and devotion. But that’s just pretending—when the first difficult situation comes along, the real emotions, like jealousy and fear, will surface.

1 yWhen they show their heart & soul, integrity, and character to you and you can read it like a novel… It runs deep and flows brilliantly with a glimmer, shimmer, and shine. That is when you know they are the one and you would do anything for them.
10 Reply 309 opinions shared on Dating topic. I would put a woman on pedestal if she is a gentle woman, classy. Must have all the good qualities: Education, beauty, brain, money, character, femininity, fashionable, sympathetic, organized, kind, sensitive, good behaviour, etc. Otherwise, I will not waste my time for her. I am fussy, most the girls I have selected in the past for long term relationship were Gems. 💎

Anonymous(30-35)1 yShe is white loving, cares about family and wants to be lead by a man her husband. That makes me want to put her on a pedestal. I really like average looking women as long as they are white or just exotic. I don't ask much if she is just willing to have children and family and not demanding and she can have everything I can offer to her if she gives me a big large family. 6-8 children and adopt 6 more together and care for them. That women is worthy of being my queen.
