Some mothers are single for legitimate reasons, like seriously abusive partners, i. e. battered women and such. Most single mothers will claim they were abused though, or pin all the blame on the guy they left. It's usually more to do with them than anything, either because they knowingly chose bad boys, got pregnant for benefits, or else they left their marriage because they got bored or the going got tough (but not abusive). I was raised by a formerly battered woman for a mother, I know the difference, and even she treated my step father as a wallet and a workhorse, having chosen an ugly man thinking he would be grateful to have her. I could never fully bond with my step-dad and he was demonised too often. It's the same story I hear from both sides of that story all the time. I would not volunteer for that dumpster fire of a situation even if the state would pay me to do it.

No way. She has other things to focus on than a boyfriend (i. e., her kids), and most single moms lead chaotic lives.
