Guys, Why does a guy who doesn’t want to date a girl (that he regrets breaking up with ) but won’t leave her alone either?

When I mean leave her alone I mean, that he still looks up her social media ( has for nearly over 2,5 years since they broke up ) and has tried to be in contact with her even tho she has declined his request online (multiple times in a period in the past) and online about being friends.
