I messed up the post “hug versus sex” question ; would you be bothered if I deleted it and start over?

Normally , I just delete questions when I don’t like how they turned out. In this case, the question was very clear in my head, but the way that I wrote it, I don’t think got to the essence of what I was trying to illustrate. I wanted to pretty much delete it immediately after I posted it. 🤦🏻‍♀️

However, sometimes someone will have put a lot of effort into an answer soooo I’m checking with you guys first 🙂

Well I didn't answer the question because I didn't understand it and I don't think I'm qualified to give a proper answer. However, if you already got a lot of answers, then you shouldn't delete it. Perhaps you should post an update.

I would personally argue your approach infantilizes people and it is unproductive for society in the long run to cater to people's feelings too much.

I treat you with courtesy but also I expect you to be an adult that can shrug off minor things such as a repeat question. Wouldn't you be insulted if I thought you couldn't handle that? Isn't it kind of insulting for the people here to imply that we are not adult enough to handle you making another question?

Seeing you redo a question should get nothing but a shrug from people. "Oh, she made a mistake and wants another try at the question."

Their emotion should be apathy. If they are upset that you redo a question, that is THEIR problem.

I don't expect you to conform to my point of view but I am really struggling to understand your perspective. I am deeply curious why you think the way you do.

OK that’s fair point possibly but we can say that about anything that bothers people I mean, whether I think something should’ve should’ve bother someone it doesn’t mean that if it’s not difficult for me to be considerate towards that person’s feelings that I shouldn’t be

There are limits but this really isn’t a big deal so I don’t know… in this case if it’s not a big deal to me to read through the post first before deciding if I want to do a new one then willing to do that.

But I do think you make a good point generally it’s it’s a applicable to a lot of situations.

I don't have my feelings catered for, as you implied, and I didn't feel infantilized either. In fact, what I saw/felt was just someone making a mistake and enquiring about people's reactions, just curiosity from the asker

Anybody who is bothered by her making another question to the extent where she even has to ask about it? That to me is sick! People should lay off of her if she feels this much of a need to do it.

But she said it's not a big deal and I take her word for it, it's just not what I would do. I don't like seeing people get bullied by oppressive expectations.

I get you, but these oppressive expectations only apply if someone is in a position to be oppressed. We are not in this position here, because we are subordinate to the asker, we are just navigating and answering what we want without constraints to do so

I think part of empathizing with someone's situation is putting yourself in their shoes, right? I better understand another position and that's good to me.
