It's extremely important. I'd say when he is younger, his potential or drive is something I'd take into account. Older, his finances are critical.
But when I am talking about finances, I am not talking about him bringing home 6 figures so that I can have spa days once a week. I am talking about his work ethic, saving and money management skills. I'm also talking about his awareness of the economy and what it actually costs to have a home, maintain it, afford the necessary insurances, pay for food, clothing and education for kids, etc.
If I am going to stay home and manage the household, I need to know that I am doing it for someone who has a realistic understanding of what running a home and caring for a family costs, not someone who goes to sporting events at the expense of our food budget and then blames me for not being frugal enough. If I am also working, I need to know that we share common goals and priorities, and that he understands that I cannot both work and be a full-time homemaker. Meaning, we may need to budget in certain services, like housecleaning, painting and lawn mowing.
It is for most of them.
Nope. Never ever asked a man this. It's kinda important he works if not a good reason to not be working. But any job. And that's only cos I've financially carried too many lovers.
Not sure if it's American women? But in my experience here in UK women definitely don't ask or demand this big 6 figure thing or wealthy status from men.
No, not a criteria. Especially not in a way where I demand that he has a high paying job or anything.
As long as he has a stable income, and is responsible with his money.
These days? Hell no.
I'd rather have an emotionally mature person, why can communicate effectively.
Emotional maturity is a great resource in a relationship. I agree
No. I want to know what's in their head and heart first.
Of course, it is because, by the middle twenties, the first question 95% of women ask when they meet a man is, "What do you do?"
If he replies, "I clean tables at Denny's." she is out of there.
Honestly yes, I'm not very bright myself but I still work and work hard but my husband is the one with the career and money that's gonna give us a better future
A man's finances is very very important. Don't want potential I want the real deal. Now can you clarify what you're "idea" of potential means?
Simply put, he's seems like he's on the path to being financially successful (ex. a guy in med school that takes his studies very seriously and will likely be a doctor in the near future)
I personally would not reccomend a woman dating this guy. Yes he's on the right path which is excellent but a man is as faithful as his options. Once he graduates grad school and obtain his doctorate more women are available at his disposal. It's better to meet this man after he is done with his studies.
