He doesn't speak English well. So if you say to him, you're getting better with English, and he says, "No, no... I still don't know how to pick up English speaking girls (or women) ..." I guess it means, he isn't interested in you, right?

I also get the feeling he is kind of shy. I wish I knew, maybe time will tell. He does want to see me when he comes here, so I'm hopeful.

The only thing I've ever done is, the last time we took a picture together, I place my hand on his shoulder (while he bent down to come to my level while standing) and, the picture of him looks so serious. He wasn't smiling! I asked him why so serious, and he didn't say anything. Another time, I took his arm down this slope (left arm) to avoid falling, and I thought I felt his heart (or pulse) beating very fast and strong. It could be he was just exercising too, with the walking.
I guess I am not sure about how he feels, and too afraid to to ask. But, he does write to me nearly daily, text and emails, sends pictures of what he's up to and where he's driven to, in short, keeps me abreast of his whereabouts. So, this comes out now, and I don't know how to respond. Would you say this is kind of him flirting? I just took it as him saying that he wants to learn how to flirt and pick up women (English speaking).
