1 yI mean... to a certain extent. Obviously "looks aren't everything" yada yada yada but unfortunately human beings are VERY shallow creatures. I've also read in several places that even literal babies/infants have preferences in which type of people they preferred. They did a scientific experiment where the babies reacted more positively to attractive looking people and more negatively to unattractive looking people.
Not even exclusive to human beings either as other animals also look for the most attractive partner to pass their genes onto. Like horned animals look for the biggest horn, birds look for the most colorful feathers, etc.
NOT to say you're doomed if you're unattractive though. Just saying you might need to work a little harder than naturally attractive dudes.
As for bodybuilders and athletic men, I wouldn't worry too much about that part. A lot of average looking, and even skinny and fat guys are in relationships. Some women even prefer those over bodybuilders/athletic men.
But even for average/skinny/fat guys you should at least be trying for a minimum to keep up with your health. Like not necessarily be an athlete, but just don't be so lazy/sedentary that you can't even walk for 5 minutes without getting tired. And eat healthy at least 50% of the time, stay decently hydrated, and sleep an adequate amount.

Anonymous(36-45)1 yMy physique is the number one predictor of how much attention I'll get from attractive girls. When I'm in great shape (like UFC fighter level physique) I get tons of hot young girls talking to me. When I'm soft or too skinny, I don't. Women can deny it, but it's a verifiable fact. Almost no women like giant bodybuilders though. Athletic look is the key.
But don't forget that no matter what you look like, a creepy personality will turn away any woman. Make sure that is in order before working on building a masculine physique.05 Reply
Asker1 yThis is why I should quit dating.
Opinion Owner1 yWhy though? You can lift for 30 minutes, three times a week and completely transform your appearance. You probably spend more time jerking off. Plus, it will make you physically feel better, sleep better, and live longer.
Asker1 yCan't compete. Don't have financial power to buy double the amount 6 meals worth of food to be a bodybuilder.
Opinion Owner1 yYou don't want to be a bodybuilder. I've never met a chick that was into this. Studies show women prefer obese and scrawny bodies over bodybuilders. You don't need six meals to improve your physique. Don't even change your diet.
896 opinions shared on Dating topic. to some extent yes. looks matter for dating but they're not everything
if we're talking body type, i dont think skinny but not super jacked is a bad thing. maybe it's a bit less attractive then being fit for a certain amount of girls but i dont think it's considered unattractive especially in your age bracket, unless we're talking starved looking skinny

Asker1 yIt sure feels that way because I don't see hardly any young slim men romantically with girls apart from toxic junkies. It's mainly them & bodybuilder/gym guys.
Asker1 yAll the slim guys that I met are single but the one's that are junkies also or gym lads aren't. It is what I see in public daily. We are clearly perceived as low value to your kind otherwise we would experience it but we don't. We'd be lucky if a woman even speaks to us.
Asker1 yNot bad skinny like the fictional character Trevor reznik. Can I send a photo to you of a guy who has a similar body to me.

Asker1 yNo because you lot are too obsessed with muscle & smv from guys. That you don't notice it unless we have said above.

Anonymous(36-45)1 yYeah dude--physical appearance most definitely matters, though you can make up for a LOT with a good personality, intelligence, a career or career prospects and a solid social scene.
But on the physical side, there is no doubt that being slim is not something that tends to work to a guy's advantage. I've found that more women are in to a dude with a "dad bod" than are in to a slim guy. For one thing, most girls like to feel smaller next to a guy. And unless you're dating a model (and if you are, you've already won!) then being slim you're going to automatically makes some girls feel less attractive, and that ain't good.
So if you can, I'd suggest hitting the gym and ramping up your caloric intake. Add muscle mass. You'll feel better anyway and your testosterone will improve which will have advantages in the bedroom.

Asker1 yDon't have financial power.
Opinion Owner1 ySo you need to work on fixing that.
Asker1 yPretty much sums up, why I should quit dating.
Opinion Owner1 yYou can keep some feelers out there (keep up online profiles, cold approach girls where you can) but in terms of time, I'd recommend you focus your time and energy on your job situation.

1 yLiterally, no.
His hobbies, interests, character, demeanor, priorities, job, personality, and how he makes you feel in your presence is most interesting & most thought provoking also gets a woman’s heart beating not just looks alone / physique can win over a woman especially since she wants to see if you are father material and partner material too.

Asker1 yBut they never care about my hobbies , interest, character/ personality. Just how much I make, eye color & physical appearance.
- 1 y
That is hard to believe because every relationship in my vast friend group is someone not of ‘body builder’ physique though the girls always love their man’s appearance though met through common interests, liked the same things though differences of hobbies / job made it interesting.
Every relationship I see everywhere I go is all that, not just appearance though appearance does play a role though doesn’t guarantee a match compared to overall. You need all.
Asker1 ySounds like BS because I would have been given go if that was the case.

Well maybe you are too harsh on yourself, dishonest with yourself, and too busy putting yourself down that you never gave a chance to lift yourself up & allow support in your life.
Focus on the positive, hobbies that you live that a girl may find interesting, and be warm & inviting and the ladies will be all over you! Confidence & keeping it real.
2.3K opinions shared on Dating topic. I was your age I was slim but fit. Never had any problem getting women at all, except for when I doubted myself. It's 90% in your head and about what confidence/charisma you have. As women get older the value the man's resources more & as guys get older they tend to have more resources. Do the math.
Anyhow, do whatever you do for YOU. That is the most important thing. If the side effect is something else you want, fine. But never do something just to get women.
00 Reply2.4K opinions shared on Dating topic. What matters the most is height, being fit/strong, and money. Those three matter the most. Does personality matter? Yes, for long term success, but if someone doesn't like the looks, they will never bother getting to know their personality in the first place.
As far as fitness goes, it is mostly having strong arms and shoulders with a good or decent chest that matters the most. No 6 pack necessary most of the time.
00 Reply1K opinions shared on Dating topic. The more women your in front of the easier it will be to be chosen.
I find I had the best options when I was at 185-190lbs and muscular, I'm 5'8 1/2.
After 23 being muscular has been my staple. Even now at 37 I'm arguably the strongest I've ever been curling 65lbs, something I wouldn't dream of in my 20's.
Also my style has vastly improved00 Reply- 1.9K opinions shared on Dating topic.
1 yPersonality will get you farther than being physically appealing, but looks still matter.
As long as you dress reasonably well, practice good hygiene, and are a fun person to be with; women WILL love you.

Asker1 yThey don't seem to be interested in men's personality unless they have the physicality. They don't seem to speak to you even if you have those apart from 💪🏻.

Oh trust me, they definitely notice. And they absolutely love it.
1.2K opinions shared on Dating topic. Yeah this goes for both genders though. Upon merting someone you have no clue what they're like as a person. You make assumptions though based on their looks. But if someome doesn't find you physically attractive, the chances of it going anywhere is very low

1 yIt helps but it is not the sole factor.
If you are fretting over your build, then why not get a gym membership and focus on getting your body to a standard that you desire?
00 Reply 798 opinions shared on Dating topic. Oh they will talk to you more if you are athletic and tall but because they want you to help them with something.
You should build some muscle for your own sake like its going to protect your bones especially when you get older.

Of course they exist. You just have to look in the right places. Don’t go to a gym or a bar with the expectation of finding a good partner.
