What does it mean when people you know or knew swipe yes on your dating profile?

Are they trying to express interest in you, or is it more like they’re just saying a quick; ‘Hi;’ to everyone they encounter, to whom they’re already acquainted? I’ve had two men I used to know swipe yes, but not send me a message.

These were both men that I knew years ago and lost contact with, who told me to leave them alone, so I did. Then I mostly forgot about them until I saw them online.

A swipe is definitely sexual interest. They can say hi any time. By not sending a message they're leaving the ball in your court so they don't have to confront you directly and deal with rejection.

It means either they like you. Or they just want you to think they like you because they want some attention.

I'd have to know them to answer that. I don't like ANY women's dating profiles. I either message or I don't. And if I message I'm interested. I hate the half hearted messages people send just to Guage your interest. But a lot of guys do this because because of their roles in the selection process.
Unfortunately it's just a REALITY that a guy must ask and get IGNORED by a lot of women before he hits on one that gives him the time of day. So it's understandable that a lot of guys are going to show interest that aren't really interested.
Think of it as planting seeds. As a farmer you know not every seed you plant is going to grow into a plant. You EXPECT that as a farmer. So you don't plant every seed with great care. No! Scatter your seeds and you take care of the plants that sprout. You follow me?

When I was dating, sometimes I'd swipe Yes just because they were attractive and interesting, even though I had no wish to contact them.
