Would you date a nerdy guy if you're a girl or nerdy girl if you're a guy?

More "geek" than "nerd" but... I'm one... and I'm attracted to a lot of that... but there are often issues with where we'd disagree on politics, religion, kids, etc. Things that would probably be a dealbreaker, at least for me (though probably for them, too).

Many geeks (at least where I live) are almost militantly HARD, proud liberals (like the ones that would make Bill Maher roll HIS eyes) and hard atheists. Like... extreme. I don't think I'd be able to have a relationship who was super hard leaning, toe the line type (Republican, Democrat or even Libertarian). I think the big three parties all have their issues. So all that tends to get in the way, or it becomes some kind of issue early on - even before I could decide whether I wanted to ask her out.

So yes, I'd most likely want to date someone who was geeky, if we agreed on religion (at least the major parts), and politics (or she doesn't generally get into it or feels like she has to get into it constantly). I think it would make a lot of things easier or more fun. Similar sense of humor, similar interest in books, movies, tv shows, we might even like some video games... that'd be great.

Yeah I'm a nerdy girl I watch anime since I was 7 or 8 years old on Toonami yearrrrs ago back when the line up was Naruto, Code Geiass, Bobobobobo and like Inuyasha and the Symbiotic Titan at like 4am. I was really into Pokémon too and had my first game on my Gameboy.

In elementary school I hid it, in high school not so much but in college it was fully out. I'm now dating a lovely 6ft Afro Caribbean man who is also a nerd and likes anime, manga and video games.

So yes I would date a nerd.

Well yeah it depends on a lot more then just being a nerd. Also more intelligent women do tend to be more attractive. Just remember it’s what’s in the heart that matters most.

Even if someone isn’t meant to be for me personally it doesn’t mean nobody is meant for them.

To be quite honest: no I wouldn’t.

I don’t mind nerds in my life. But I find that most nerdy traits are synonymous with being shy, a pushover, too nice and gullible, non competitive…

And I like my partner to be the opposite of these things.

I do like a geeky side: having pop culture references, being smart, engaging in intellectual activities.
In that sense I would say Im a bit geeky myself.

But I don’t glorify the full on nerd esthetic just to feel good about myself

Definitely! Unfortunately many guys claim to be nerds even when they’re just toxic or party guys who just like to read also. A nerd mostly stays at home, is introverted and doesn’t always know how to be smooth when talking to girls. Media stereotypes Indian guys as funny nerds. I wish that were true. Most are just toxic and many even hit women.

I have a super needy guy friend. He’s your regular Star Trek, Star Wars, anime, all that and a side of fries. He has SO MANY girls wanting him, and like good looking ones. Super pretty drop dead ones and I believe it’s cause he’s genuine.

I think that is being a nerd typically woman would not be interested in dating a nerd because in today society woman are wanting material things and may not think that a nerd could provide them but I think if a nerd was married to a woman he would be a honest and caring husband because he would be proud to be married to a woman who stold his heart.
