How do I know if I've been left on read or if the guy hasn't seen my text?

I've been friends with a guy for almost 3 years now and recently got his number since we're in advanced classes together and are "study buddies." I've had a crush on the guy for 2 years and he KNOWS it. I've told him I've liked him but he hasn't made any moves to advance our relationship until more recently. A few days ago at a church camp, he helped me down a dark stairwell and held my hand even after I reached the bottom, and he even hung around me everytime he had the chance to. We've been texting a good bit since the camp ended (we're out because it snowed and shut basically the entire area down) but now last night I answered his question of why it was still snowing and got no response. I even texted him "Good morning" with a picture of my backyard and got NO response. I can't tell with my phone type if he's read it or not, so how do I know if he has left me on read the entire day or if he just hasn't seen it?

Don't look to deeply into it. When I was a young adult and it snowed a lot, my father and I would help the neighbors and the town out with shoveling and transporting them. Getting food and supplies. It was hard work.

Maybe he's helping others and is tired.

Just talk to him about it at a later date.

Now as yourself is he the type of person to stay off his phone for over a day? I've never met anyone that busy that they can look at their phone or shoot back a message, the chances of him leaving you on read are pretty high if it's been that long, unless he broke or lost his phone

Well, he has strict parents who would rather him interact with them than be on his phone. (They're divorced and have allotted visiting hours. I think he's at his dad's right now if that's relevant.) I wouldn't necessarily say that willingly, he would stay off his phone for over a day, though.

Then if it's normal behavior for him to be off his phone a lot then the possibilities of him actually being off his phone are higher

We actually do a TON at school. We just can't right now since school is closed and our parents would not take the trouble to let us hang out. We also talk a LOT at school too. So yes, I in fact *have* heard of actually talking and actually *do* prefer it over texting. Thank you!

Many young people these days are poor communicators and struggle to interact like normal people. He's just young and dumb, don't worry about it. Don't make his lack of response a big deal in your mind.
