Why do I resent my boyfriend for doing 50/50 for rent and groceries?

I know the people around me, my sister, her best friend and my mom all are taken care of by men who are providers and pay for almost everything. My best friend even says a guy should be a provider, as in pay for most things. I recently fell in love with this guy, he claims to love me too. At first, when trying to court me he paid for more things. Now that we move in together, He wants to do 50/50 and is very precise and last time bought groceries without me knowing and asked to split the bill. It was $200. I know we do eat it together. But it annoys me that it seems like it has to be exact amount I have to pay and that hurts me. I am the type to pay a few times or always get him something when he treats me

In recent decades it hasn't been financially feasible for men to financially support a woman. This has to do with many economic and legal factors that were and are beyond their control. Firstly, when women were given, not equality, but privileges - privileges that outstripped men, it put men on uneven ground to compete in the job market, university, et al. Then throw in all of the affirmative action and DEI that further enhanced women's privileges at the expense of men, namely straight white males. At this point for many men, they are just struggling to financially support themselves let alone a woman.

So this latent entitlement of yours expecting your man to pay for everything. . . you need a reality check. I've been around the block enough times from witnessing what happened to other guys and my experience of dating American women, your grievance will become a flash point where you will leave your boyfriend, try to find another boyfriend while you are in your 30s, come to realization that your dating options are slim to none, then try to get back your current boyfriend. But he will be off banging women younger and skinnier than you.

Despite women having equality now, they largely still want men to be providers. In the past men were paid more BECAUSE they were providers. It's probably a built-in instinct for women to seek this arrangement, but Feminism happened so it's time to embrace equality.

You might want to talk to him about buying without informing you and then expecting exact 50/50 split, but if you're with someone these days you should be with them for them, not for provisions.

Have you talked to your boyfriend about this? What are his thoughts and opinions on the subject? By any chance are your sister, friend, and mom married? A lot of guys don’t want to take on the role of provider unless the woman they’re with is their wife. If the traditional way of life is important to you, then you need to have these discussions with your boyfriend to see what the next stage of your relationship is going to be. But if it’s not that important, then let it go.

You can argue the split. 60/40, 50/50, whatever. The point is that you are not married. I assume you do not have joint bank accounts where you pool your money. At least I hope so.

So you're roommates. That means you split the rent or mortgage, food, utilities, insurance, repairs, furniture purchases, etc. Likewise you both cook, clean, and do laundry. Did you think you could just move into his place and be a parasite forever?
