Why would a man ask me whether he can post a video where I appear or not?

He wanted to post a video of a pup and in that video you can have a glance of me. He asked me if I mind him posting it, why?

Because it's content that contains your image and likeness that is associated with him. Some people get super weird about having videos and pics shared about them that they don't control. Especially if you're depicted drinking, smoking, or something else along those lines.

Heck, I just had a situation come up where a long time family friend showed me a picture he has in an old photo album of some really young kid that he insists is me. It's just a photo of a young kid with a goofy bowl cut. The kid isn't me. Doesn't look like me much at all, outside of being white. But he insists that that kid is a young me, and has doubtless shared this photo with mutual acquaintances who know me.

I don't particularly want that photo going around. Not because there's anything weird about it; I just don't want someone going around telling people a completely harmless detail about me that isn't true. I've never at any point in my life had a bowl cut lol

Sometimes you see YouTubers ask people things like

"Are you okay to be in the video"
"Can we post that"

and things like that.

I think you could possibly get in trouble if you post things with people that don't consent to being published.

Not if you just see their back or something.
But if you see their face and can identify them.

honestly, jealousy is not healthy and you don’t own anyone and if you’re not in a relationship, it shouldn’t be an issue anyway but just saying. Maybe it’s his backwards way of finding out if you are worrying about what anyone else thinks

It is an issue as several times when having a photographer taking marketing pictures of the restaurant/bar and the outside grille and seating if we want bodies in it we have to either get a release signed by patrons, use our friends that agree, or no people outside of staff in the picture. Most people are happy to be in the picture, but we have had a few who declined and simply moved outside the photo area.

Thoughtful and nice that's all. My girlfriend is hot and man and sometimes women are haunting her. I love her we have been together for 4 years. She trusts me and as most couples, she lets me do some very naughty things with her and to her... That said I wouldn't post any image of her without checking with her first. It would not go well.

I don't know what country you're in but in the United States technically, depending on the circumstances, you might be able to sue someone if they post your picture on the internet without your consent.
