Why are there so few Chinese men looking for Chinese women? Why is it literally the inverse opposite of US society when it comes to dating?

I found this video shocking because

1) China has vastly more men than women

2) In the US there’s always more men on dating apps than women

3) In the US there’s vastly more young single men than young single women

So why is the situation in China reversed?

Why is it that there’s so few men in China willing to go to matchmaking events, yet so many women?

How can it be that women are literally having to pay to go to matchmaking events in China, when in the US its literally the exact opposite and its always men having to pay to meet women and buy messages on dating apps?

What’s the reason for the difference?

It's because those women have absolutely INSANE demands.

Men are expected to own (not be paying a mortgage on, but OWN outright) an apartment (there's no single-family homes in the cities where most of the people are), a car, and have a high income. And THEN they have to pay a "bride price" - a large sum of money that goes to the bride's family to compensate them for raising her. And frequently, after working out a bride price with the family, the wedding day will come and the bride's family will suddenly demand a much higher bride price. Imagine you had to pay your future in-laws $100,000 to marry your girlfriend, and that had been agreed to for the 9 months leading up to the wedding, and then a day before the wedding, they suddenly changed the price to $300,000. That kind of thing has become common.

THEN, the husband is expected to buy her new clothes, $1500+ designer handbags, a car, etc. etc. And until just recently, she could divorce him and take half of everything, even if they'd just been married for a week.

Did I mention that all these women you are seeing are the "leftover women" - women who refused to marry in their 20s, when they could have provided children - and didn't start looking for a husband until she was in her mid-30s, because her education and career mattered more? And she wanted to spend on her money to live a high lifestyle and have fun, expecting to get married and have a man to provide her with everything?

The men who have all of the things these women want (tall, handsome, rich, etc.) don't need to settle for a left-over woman - they have YOUNG women available to them - and the men who don't have all of those things are just rejected out of hand, so why would ANY man bother? And that's exactly what's happening - all of these middle-aged women are going to match-making services trying to find a husband but no men (or very, very few men, and no highly desirable ones) show up, because why show up just to get rejected?

This exact same thing is going on all throughout the west, including the US. There have been a number of female matchmakers who had to quit and find new work because their only clients are middle-aged women who have little to offer except liabilities, yet expect 7-star royalty treatment, and will dismiss quality men for the tiniest of reasons.

I see what you mean. So the simple answer is that Chinese women tend to be highly materialistic to the point where most men think “FCK THIS”?

Also, do the wealthy Chinese men that can afford to move abroad prefer to date women in western countries like the US instead?

I’ll admit dating in the US isn’t without its issues but based on what you told me I’d still much prefer dating in the US or other similar western cultures

Like anywhere, the amount of really wealthy men is small, and they have nearly unlimited options, so they can (and do) attract young, more traditional, feminine women to marry, and they don't need to worry about the middle-age career women.

Those same women can't figure out that their minimum standards eliminate all but the top 1%, and that those men have zero interest in such women. So the women continue to hold out for men that simply don't exist and never will, as their own value continues to decline.

Worse, most of them spend every penny they earn on consumer goods - beauty products, fashion, furniture, etc., and they have nothing for retirement. The tradition in China is that your children fund your retirement, but these women have no children and no retirement, so they will have to work until they die.

Perhaps the Chinese experience is a result of Chairman Mao's one child policy, during which male children were HEAVILY favored, and many newborn females were abandoned and left to die.

Well Chinese women are not really know to be kind, they're know to be Tiger mom, extremely demanding, gold digger, they throw tantrum everywhere etc... I won't be surprised if a lot of Chinese men don't want to bother not to say Chinese beauty standard are extremely unrealistic they want White face features (the nose, the eyes, the skin tones, the 3d face as opposed to their flat face, being extremely tall for women the desired height there is over 5'7 , big boobs and extremely skinny underweight) literally nobody have those standard and all Chinese women in internet are heavily photoshopped to the point they look like nothing like their real safe.

He also has to OWN (outright, not just be making payments) an apartment and provide her with a car, AND pay her family a Bride Price. And this is the bare minimum just to be considered - then she will object at every tiny thing. His hair is receding. His job isn't high status enough. He isn't suave enough. Whatever. Because she wants perfection, and she wants him to fund a luxury lifestyle for her.

That's why so many women can't find a man in a country with a large surplus of men.
