The female was just someone he knew as friends from the past though, that checked in on him, and he decided to make that offer and try to pursue her, she wasn’t in the picture romantically at all she actually turned him down. He did try save his skin and say he was going to go, but I’m not silly the intention was there! That says enough

I don’t think there was a first choice as she’s someone that kind of just popped out of nowhere 3 months into him seeing me. Unless he always had a crush on her, and saw that as his opportunity. Probably not, honestly... The issue might just be that you simply aren't her. It's also possible that he's the problem and nothing anyone does could possibly be enough for him because whatever he needs has to come from within him.

For what it's worth, I've found that a lot of people are totally different to be in a romantic relationship with. Not everyone can be the exact person someone needs romantically.

The thing is his ex best friend cheated on the girl, I had her message him to test him as I had doubts, and he straight away offered to drive down to comfort her and was interested and wanted to meet despite her steering the conversation away from that.
