I’m meeting a guy for the first time (Aside from video chats) and hey driving a little over an hour to visit.
Is it appropriate to offer to help pay for his gas or is that weird?

You could pay for gas, I offered to give him a free drink when he gave me a ride to a New Years event and I would give my co worker free beers for giving my rides home from work.
Don't pay for the gas, he may not like it. You can buy him something else, a gift maybe or a drink.
He's not a cab driver lol. So yeah don't pay for his gas
Maybe pay for the date instead. If you plan on driving to him next time I wouldn't worry about it at all because it will eventually turn out even.
That’s nice. He’s an adult and will probably refuse.

is he 16 years old? If not then this should not be a topic and if it is cancel your date with this loser
Nothing wrong with offering. Or even splitting it. I'd be impressed at the offer even.
Especially with the gas prices right now lol
No way, not unless he needs / ask for it anyway however I say not.
No, it's not your car, it's not your gas
