Yesterday, I went on a date with a guy who bragged about how women are constantly throwing themselves at him and how he dated a model and a doctor in the past. Obviously, I’ve lost interest and declined a second date.
I was just wondering why men do this?

What Girls & Guys Said

Ugh, that's totally annoying when guys do that! I hate when dudes feel the need to brag about all the girls they've supposedly dated or how many women are supposedly after them. It's just so cringy and insecure.
I think a lot of guys do it because they're trying to make themselves seem more desirable or "alpha" in the eyes of the woman they're talking to. They think it'll impress us and make us want them more. But really, it just comes across as super arrogant and unattractive.
Like, we get it dude, you think you're some kind of player. But bragging about your exes or how many girls want you doesn't make you look cool, it just makes you look like a douche. It's a huge turnoff.
Personally, some girls find it way more attractive when guys are humble and don't feel the need to constantly prove their "manliness" or sexual prowess. Just be confident in yourself without having to put others down or exaggerate your dating history.
If a guy starts going on and on about all the hot girls he's been with, I'm immediately put off. It's a huge red flag that he's insecure and just trying to overcompensate. I'd much rather date a guy who is comfortable in his own skin and doesn't need to brag.
The right girl will appreciate you for who you are, not how many notches you have on your belt. So ditch the bravado and focus on being a good, genuine person. That's way sexier than any lame boasts about your dating life.
They want you to think they're desired by women. Girls do it too! I used to tease guys I liked by telling them about other guys asking me out but that was when I was in my teens...
Bragging is usually their way to mask underlying insecurities about their attractiveness or desirability.
