Why in the world would anybody ever do that? That doesn't make sense.

So two people are in a relationship. The woman leaves the man.

The man becomes richer and more attractive.

Now... why in god's name would that guy then want to get back with his ex who left him? Because now that he's better-looking and has more money... maybe she'll want him?

It's like going back to your ex and saying "look... I know you didn't want me. But... now that I'm more attractive and rich... maybe you'll want me now?"

That's so pathetic! Clearly she doesn't want HIM (if she left). If she agrees to get back with him... then it is quite clear. She doesn't give a shit about being with him. She wants him back for his money, and because he's more attractive?

My willingness to go back to her is not related to how rich and successful I am. We left because we could not find a way to bridge the long distance in time, not because either of us had a problem with each other. Whenever I am single the door is open for her to come back. When I am taken that door is closed.
