I’ve always been curious if people view dating a nurse as a good or bad thing? I’m sure this all depends on the person

1 yThis made me laugh so hard! Thanks for that. Personally I'm pro dating nurses. My brother's wife is a nurse who works in maternity. I've known a few nurses, and this question made me laugh so hard... because I have a definite answer. Not that I've thought about a whole lot about it, but I have thought about this before.
There is a certain type of personaity that is overrepresented in Nursing. I think it's empathetic, kind and caring people who are often attracted to nursing. People with a kind heart. . And that's why this is such a funny question. Because Nurse is more than a job it's a set of (good) personality traits.
Of course that's not to say there aren't all kinds of shitty people who are nurses. like anything.
Teacher is another career that has a certain type.
I am totally pro dating Nurses. Strongly pro. In terms of dating... BUT
But... your shifts! What the fuck!
My brother's wife has been there long enough to pick her shifts. Nevertheless, with my brother working early in the morning and them having two young kids, I often wonder how stressful it must be for them.
They totally make it work, and never complain. And me and the grandparents can help with babysitting (I'm eager to, I fucking love those kids so much). But I can't tell you how often I wonder how the fuck they do it. I see them all the time, but... we just don't talk like that.
They do what they gotta do. And they're always doing shit together, and taking the kids places together, but... still I don't know how much quality time they get together.
Don't get me wrong, they're totally a happy couple. there's zero indication eitheer of them are unhappy... it's a ME thing. I often wonder if I would be happy if I were in a relatioship with the shiftwork.
For example, I went over to hang out with my niece and nephew today, around 4 in the afternoon. My brother had just gotten home from work, and picked up my niece at school. I was playing with them, when his wife came down the stairs and was heading out to work at like 5 pm.
Right now, she's working nights (by choice) which is evidently the option that makes the most sense.
I didn't even try to keep any track of what her shift-schedule was like when she was working days. those 12 hours shifts (which should be nobody's standard shift length) which sometimes rotate (what the fuck is that).
But I do know I was wondering how they do it. They do totally do it though. They're just came back from a 4 day random trip with the kids to a town a few over, the kids are in sports and swimming lessons, they're going to the movies, and aquarium and whatnot. They come visit my parents many weekends with the kids (sometime only one of them and the kids).
They seem perfectly happy, though tired. I don't know how they do it. But they do. I just... wonder what that leaves left over for them (I've been wondering this since long before they had kids)
But here's the problem. (for me) since I'm totally cool with dating a nurse (I won't lie, if I found out somebody I was interested in was a nurse, its a small sign that she might be somebody of a personality type (I think it's empathetic, or kindness, caring. I think nurses tend to have a kind heart. That's what it is. That's why I'm pro nurse.
So if things were to work out, I'm probably not going to let the work schedule be a problem. See...
If I like a girl, I'm going to totally be able to put up with the work schedule (no problem. at all). Then if thigs go well, and we start building a life together, when work schedules start to make things a pain in the ass,...
Well, we've already been dating long enough to get serious. At that point I'd love her enough to deal with it. I guess that's actually what happened to my brother.
To tell you the truth, although I truly don't know how he does it. I think he's got a great life.
(But do they not know? You can divide a 24 hour day into two twelve hour shifts. BUT you can also divide a 24 hour day into...3 shifts of 8 hours.)

1 yLove is a wonderful thing & in life if you find that special wonderful someone life is good. As for dating a nurse some will say it’s a good thing, some will say it’s a bad thing & others will say in between. As for me I’m in between on this one however on the good side as well. If you ever get hurt or have a question you can always count on a nurse & in the bed room I’m sure a nurse would love to play doctor with you. As for working long hours most nurses do & in a relationship that could be a dealbreaker to some. Overall I would date a nurse if the right nurse found her way into my heart.

u 1 yIsn’t it a cliché that nurses (and hairstylists) are the most promiscuous professions?
31 Reply- 1 y
It definitely is a stereotype for the profession for sure
1 ythe same as dating software engineers?
people are different... some are good, some are bad, and some are in between :D20 Reply
1 y@satinpetals depends - I used to think they'd be alright yet many nurses I've met or worked alongside tended to have the attitude of a manager - which is great when it works - not so great on the receiving end - like being a drill sergeant with softer undertones
05 Reply- 1 y
@satinpetals and no one would want them to be pushover personalities either because the job requires them to be protective of patients, their safety, the medicines, etc however - you could imagine for me as a soft cuddly idealist personality modern man cough cough that I prefer to date a woman who's "soft and cuddly, perhaps even a pushover herself" because two pushovers make a happy humble couple - note the words I used there, happy, humble, couple
- 1 y
@satinpetals if you wanted further details - while the modern scrubs they wear is hot - lol especially for the bedroom if a person likes that sort of thing some of the time, freshly washed though lol 🌊💦 - I for one am a kind of personality type to prefer a sort of retail worker woman or someone humble woman ; who's never ever gonna be a managerial type of woman nor persona. Soft and cuddly - think bottom ranked, entry level, woman ♀️ 👠 who's bright eyed and 20s 👀😈 the same way im pretty playful as a guy and at 30 yet don't mistake playful for ditzy or playful for immature - far from it for me or for my ideal her lol
- 1 y
@satinpetals the nurse traits I'd have ironically and she'd have is being a germ freak and squeamish - so neither of us would been anything other than partially trained nurse dropouts health worker dropouts lol 🫠🫢🫢🫠
- 1 y
@satinpetals and there's two birds of feather flocking lol together lol - almost sounds lol anyways flocking lol 🕊️🫢🫢🫢🫠😈 - however lady, I like your look in your photo avatar - I hope you're proud of your cleavage, as I'd always say to my girlfriend, if I had, if you got it lady it rock it lady I'd tell her also, and sweetly :) like any supportive partner 🤠 should would could

1 yI've never done it before. I hear that along with flight attendants and teachers, nurses are very famous for cheating and being unfaithful.
If they have crazy hours that is also not conducive to long term dating success and health.
