What are the signs someone is pretending to be someone they’re not?

Oh man, that is a subject I could speak on for hours!

• There's always some detail about their stories that technically works (or at least could work) but doesn't really make sense.
• They over explain things that no one asked them to explain.
• They're always the exception to the rule and it's always in the bad way. Every attempt they make to get their life together falls apart because the world just hates them.
• Everything in their life is always a little bit miraculous.
• They're very flashy and dramatic.
• Everything they would need to substantiate their claims is just out of reach, but they would totally show you proof if they could.

- their passport shows a different name

- they are famous in music and movie industry

- they have multiple social media accounts with a variety of user names

- they are elected into leadership positions without being qualified

- they surround themselves with status symbols

I think most people want to be someone else if they could. It is only natural to want to improve in some way. Most people present different versions of themselves in different situations. I am certainly very different at work than I am at home, I have to be.

Some people aren’t exactly sure who they are to begin with. So they don’t even think they are pretending for instance someone who got bullied and as a defense mechanism started mirroring people until they just completely forgot who they are. In this cases I can’t really think of a way to tell. For people who know they are pretending that’s just Inconsistencies, overdoing it, empty words, lack of weight.

Big red flag if they won’t FaceTime or do a photo with this many fingers up etc. Also just go with your gut feeling… if they seem too good to be true!

The opposite of future faking is rushing. I agree a million percent. Look, I know some couples are meant to be and end up making it good for them. That’s the exception.

If someone’s rushing the other to sign on the dotted line. There could be another agenda at play. Like a used car salesman rushing someone to sign the contract. Only this lasts for life…. And divorce is messy.

Happens a lot when there is financial incentives among other things. Such as family pressure to get married. The list goes on.

They want to lock down marriage before someone sees their true intentions. Someone else had asked a question about why someone would future fake someone wasting ten years of someone’s life…. Then marry someone after only months.

That’s why. They were looking for someone better.
