Not that anyone wants to be desperate or anything, but if a woman who is pushing 40 meets a guy who is a good match for her and all that, and if she wants a family, I would think it would make sense for her to not be as crazy strict about who she is going to marry as she would've been earlier on...

I'd never suggest settling in order to achieve one goal and give up another goal just as important. Maybe some women would do this, but they're shortchanging the man as well as themselves.

If her goal is a family with the man being secondary, then the man is going to be secondary for the remainder of the relationship. Would you choose a relationship like that?

Well, that depends on what you're suggesting she compromise on. If you're suggesting she consider a guy my age who has his stuff together, that makes perfect sense. But not if he has bad finances or won't help with the kid (s).

So no, we shouldn't just settle at 40. If we have preferences then we should stick to them and if men can't live up to those standards then I guess we will just be single. A lot of people are becoming more and more ok with that mindset anyway.

No. You need to understans that many women would rather be single for the rest of their lives than be with a man they don’t really want. The only time it would make sense is if you’re really desperate and would rather be with someone, anyone, than be single which obviously she’s not at that point.
