Can a relationship with a young guy work out long term?

I am in my early 40s and I’ve met a guy in his mid 30s, we are 8 years apart.

For the past 4 months we have had what I believe to be mutual chemistry and attraction which has been building. We know each other from the same friends group, but we are not dating.

We are both recently divorced from other people in the past year. I have children, but he doesn’t.

Can this work out for the long term?

He does seem very attracted to me and attentive. We do get on an intellectual level too.
