Is it rare to have an intense chemistry with someone?

When you first meet someone do you feel an intense chemistry for both sides or is it a rare thing?

If total stranger and in person, then there surely strong attraction may exist.
You want to know them more, they seem worth spending time with.. etc.

Chemistry as in feel at ease and have fun can't feel right. As if I'm desparate.

Because usually first meetings are formal and people are more courteous. Doesn't make sense in general having that much chemistry, to say intense too.

Not necessarily. It could be a thing that two folk have similar interests and passions and their mode of communicating is that it makes them fit nicely together.
