We had a mid communication and he backed off but now he’s messaging with me again but haven’t seen him since. Communication is better though. I just can’t tell if that was something that made him see things differently? How do I tell for real that I’m wasting my time chatting with him? He did say he wants to be pursued and that he’s sick of doing the pursing of women.. wants to be pursued for once. 🤷🏼‍♀️idk what to do!

Well from your update it is clear that for once he would like to pursued. He would want a woman who would show clear interest in him and take things forward. In your case I don't think he likes you or is interested to be honest.
