My boyfriend said he is probably going to move to were his family is which is 45min away so he has help watching his 3 yr old while he works and plays pool 2 nights out of week. I asked him why not get on child care assistance. He said he needs to do what's best for him.. is this selfish or understandable

It’s expensive and I think time with parents is important but you need to talk about this together.

It's always better to let a family member watch over your child then a random person at a daycare. I understand why he wants to make that choice but I also understand this isn't ideal for you

Child care is EXTREMELY expensive. It’s understandable that he would want to get away from that and have help from family instead.
