Why does he talk about himself so much...?

I've known this guy for about a year now, and I'd say he's kind of shy. It took a while for him to finally open up and to start talking. Now he talks, jokes about stuff, and laughs a lot around me since we've been spending more time together. I feel like he's interested in me, but the problem is that he talks so much about himself but never asks anything about me. And the thing is that he's not one of those cocky, arrogant guys, and in fact, he's one of the most humble guys I've ever met. I don't think he doesn't want to get to know me because I'd sometimes talk about myself, and he seems really interested, and he just sits and listens to me. But then as soon as he gets a chance, he starts talking about himself again..! He usually talks about his family, life experiences, hobbies, etc. It's not that I don't like listening to him because I really enjoy talking/listening to him, and he has some fun stories that make me laugh, but it's starting to annoy me a little bit that he always talks about himself. Why does he talk about himself so much...?

self centred, its only him that's interesting to him, imagine being brought up being told how wonderful you are and how good you are at things, your going to be convinced everyone wants to hear about the things you do, but when like you say, its literally all it is about... him him him, then you really need to seperate him from that and ask him what he finds interesting about you, if he don't know, tell him its about time he started asking things about you then otherwise your going to meet someone who does find something interesting in you and he is going to lose out to them, if you get the message, so don't put up with it, get him to notice you, your worth it right?, good luck,x

Maybe he feels comfortable talking about things he knows very well. For whatever reason though, it's highly annoying and he should realize it.

This sounds exactly like one of my friends. I feel like he does this to build himself up to impress me or he just feels comfortable showing how self absorbed he is around me now haha
