Why a guy closes himself so much after rejection?

My older brother in his early 20s got rejected. He was seeing one girl he really liked. She had a crush on him for a long time. They kissed few times and went out. Then she rejected him out of nowhere. It really hurt him. He got really bitter towards dating and stuff. All he does is hanging out with friends watching football and drinking. I think he is a good looking guy and he can have many girls if he wanted to. The problem is he doesn't want at all and it happened 11 months ago. I understand he maybe needs time but shut himself so much? One of my best friends is interested in him. She really likes him. They talked only few times. I told him she likes him but he said just yeah sure. I said no she really likes you and he replied why would she like me. Or once he was out with friends and there was a girl who liked him and sending him hints but he didn't even bother to go talk to her. Why are guys like this?

Getting rejected really stings. All men get rejected a lot, especially earlier in life. Your brother will get over it but it will make him more cautious. Alternatively, he will learn women can't be trusted and he will turn into a fuck boy.
