Why do people choose to reconnect with an old flame just for things to fizzle out again?

Well the biggest reason is that they are reminiscing on the past. Even if their season in one another’s lives is over they are still remembering wanting the old times back thinking they can obtain that again. The nostalgia of it all feels super good at first until it wears off and old problems come back up again as well as new ones. They aren’t meant to be with one another and eventually that relationship grows old again.

It’s like when you get something new it’s so much fun for a while but that new wears off you put it away for a while. But then you start thinking of all the memories when you first got it so you get it back out. Feel the memories come back and eventually get bored of it again…

Because they didn't learn their lesson. The first timeverything happens for a reason. Everything is for learning experience to move on to the next step. So in 5 years down the road. If they tried to reconnect that means they didn't learn anything if it fizzles out

If it takes off and grows then they both learn what they were supposed to learn They have changed and grown

I think they don’t understand that time passes, people change and to let things stay in the past the way we remember it. Not always meant to be.
Some can’t grapple with that, so they hope the way things used to be will click and it will all work out when in reality it will always fizzle out.

Reconnecting with a friend is one thing, reconnecting with an ex is another.

Friends are okay for most part, exes should be left in the past especially if it wasn’t truly a good time had back then because it won’t be a good time had now.
