Ummmm... his responses that you described. You're a bud, a dude, someone to hang out with. He's not pursuing you. He's hanging with a buddy. He feels no pressure. Which is a great chill personality trait. Unless you're looking for a boyfriend and romance.

And there's the problem. Your own fears. Get past that and just go talk to the guy. Sounds like neither of you are great communicators. I guarantee he's not gonna want to hurt you. He may be confused. But he doesn't seem insecure.
