Sometimes, we are unconsciously drawn to familiar faces. But what if the resemblance is too close? Does it feel like moving on, or is it just a repeat of the past? Be honest: Would you give them a chance or run the other way?
3.2K opinions shared on Dating topic. I mean, to be totally honest. I would want to move on but there is that part of me
That would want to know if the new person Would be a better lover? A more intense lover, I mean, you have to be curious about that at least I am. And even though I would want to run at the same time I would want to experience so the odds are probably. I wouldn't do it , but who knows00 Reply

1 yThat would be too weird. I couldn't do it. Not if they looked exactly the same. That would be impossible. You wouldn't even be seeing the actual person half the time. You're seeing your ex. You're thinking of them as your ex. It's something I'm more averse to the more I think about it. No way. (and I don't hate my ex's. It's just too weird)

I probably would.. Because as you said, we unconsciously drawn to familiar type...
Plus it's not about moving on because you don't move on somebody with somebody else... You move on alone then start fresh, so I don't think it's a problem
But everyone has his way of moving on so I don't know, for me moving on or forgetting in general is the easiest thing in life

1 yNope. All of my exes look completely different and I wouldn't want to have it any other way. Dating a girl and remembering my past ex through her would suck.

1 yThat's never happened to me, but if it did, and the "clone" has a good personality, I find her attractive, and we get along, sure, I would date her.

1 yErrr... I think the psychological block would be too much for me, lol.
But hey, at least it's not as bad as someone who looks exactly like my mom! That'd be like hell to the fuck no!
Would prefer someone who looks like my ex than like my mom between two shitty options, lol.

m 1 yAwkward. Hmmm I don't seem drawn to familiar faces, looking at the ten faces I have seen at close range. I don't see similarities, more like real differences. I could have stumbled upon coincidences though, since I developed feelings for faceless (yet) personalities before. How would this coincidence affect me, I don't know and I don't want to know lol
00 Reply 743 opinions shared on Dating topic. An ex I dated for a few years married someone with my first name. Then their first child had that name. And he grew up to play the sport that I played. My friends said it was weird and creepy but I didn’t think too much about it… until they said it. But whatever, on with life.

1 yI guess this is a hypothetical because in reality I think it's an impossible scenario.
But if I did meet someone who looked exactly like my ex, I don't think I would want to date them. The memory would be too haunting.
00 Reply 720 opinions shared on Dating topic. I have a type.
My type is all the best features of all my exes.
Every time I had a relationship with someone, I got very familiar with them and subconsciously made positive associations with their most striking features.01 Reply- 1 y
You know, that makes a lot of sense! We all have certain preferences, and are attracted to certain traits. Those preferences and attractions do not change. So we keep seeking out the same type of person. This is normal. It's only bad when the traits we fall in love with are destructive, and sometimes there's a pathology behind this. For an extreme example, a girl whose father was an alcoholic may keep on seeking out guys who have this problem, because they may want to try to "fix" the guy, and what they're really doing is trying to "fix" their own past, which is impossible. This type of person requires therapy. But other than that, if we are attracted to someone who has the personality type and traits that we happen to like, there's nothing harmful or wrong about that.
1 yIsn't that what a type is? I probably would just wanna move on and not be reminded of them so feel less likely attracted
00 ReplyI would have no problem about it. Unless she was her twin or sibling.

Anonymous(18-24)1 yI'm dating his older brother. It's uncanny
118 ReplyThat's gotta be awkward.
Opinion Owner1 y@NotLongKindaGirthy he did take the break up hard.
He took the breakup hard, and now his older brother is plowing his ex-girlfriend. That poor guy.
How old are you? How old are the brothers?
What made you decide to "trade up"?
Opinion Owner1 y@NotLongKindaGirthy my ex was cheating on me all the time and treating me bad so I dumped him. I'm 18, me ex is 20, his brother my boyfriend is 28. There was a period of 6 months between my ex and his brother
So it's not like you're all in high school and you're going back to the same house to make out with a different boyfriend, and your ex can hear everything you two are doing.
Are you in college?
Opinion Owner1 y@NotLongKindaGirthy I'm in my first year of college. My boyfriend just got his own place but at the start my ex could hear us together
Oh god. How much did he hear? Like could he tell that you too were fucking?
Was it sort of like revenge for you? Your ex cheated on you, so now he has to listen to you fucking his brother?
Opinion Owner1 y@NotLongKindaGirthy I'm sure he heard everything his big brother really is the big brother. Honestly it wasn't revenge to get with his brother but he's such a great catch but I could have been a little bit less vocal during sex.
So you wanted your ex to know how much better his brother is?
Was your ex your first?
You can chat me if you feel like it. This thread is getting kinda long.Have you talked to your ex about any of this?
Opinion Owner1 y@NotLongKindaGirthy yes just a little bit of payback. I don't talk to my ex, he had his chance and blew it, i put up with a lot
You must be ridiculously attractive, if your boyfriend is willing to alienate his brother for a chance to be with you.
Opinion Owner1 y@NotLongKindaGirthy I'm ok. His brother has brought shame to his family too many times.
Are you in the USA? Just curious.
Are you and your current boyfriend serious?
If you and your current boyfriend get married, your ex will be your brother in law. Could be awkward.
Opinion Owner1 y@NotLongKindaGirthy for him maybe
Maybe for all three of you. For your ex, because he's had sex with his brother's wife. For your future husband, because his brother has had sex with his wife. And for you, because you've had both of them inside you.
I mean, not like the three of you will ever have a conversation about it, but still.
