Guys, do you prefer when a girl makes the first move, or does it make you feel awkward?

In the experiences where I made the first move, things somehow shifted. I ended up being taken for granted. It felt like my effort to show genuine interest was mistaken for desperation. Instead of meeting me halfway, they grew comfortable with the idea that I’d always be the one reaching out, initiating, and holding things together. Over time, that imbalance wore me down. How do you think it should be handled?

Women can still be extremely passive by comparison to men while making “the first move”. Instead of playing the usual games, just say aloud to him, with direct eye contact, “I like you.”.
If he’s interested, he’ll take over. If he’s not, it will be awkward.
That thing you described where a guy becomes extremely passive and unmotivated to invest in the relationship. That happens to every man at one time or another, usually more than once. Some people go through life taking others for granted. That’s life. The only way to avoid it is to shut everyone out forever.

I would admire them more not less and for sure wouldn't think they are desperate. Girls on average have more options and reject more, therefore it means a lot more.

Plus I can't then be somehow the creepy one who came off strong if she is making the first move.

Men should do the asking, but it is a girl's responsibility to make the first move by smiling and saying "Hi," and/or otherwise indicating it is okay for the man to approach. It is sexual assault if a man approaches and asks when the woman has not indicated that an approach may be welcomed.

There is no simple answer to this question. I seldom make the first move as well for the same reason. I think you should do what you feel.
