Is it wrong for a married man to compliment other women?

Depends on the compliment. There’s a guy at church who is married with kids about my age who walks with a stick bc he’s legally blind but he comes up WAAAAY to close and tells me how nice I look and smell. I just take a physical step back and thank him then ask how his wife is doing. Creepy old man.


However generally yes a lot of guys will share a nice compliment about my work or energy or something I’ve prepared or ask if his wife and I had fun on our outing and ads that we look great… Those are ok bc the wife is usually right there AND we’re all friends. No one is saying anything inappropriate.

Ummm… I mean… I guess every person is different, but I can’t even think of complimenting a man knowing there is only one man that deserves that kind of compliment and he’s probably innocently minding his business not knowing I am complimenting someone else, seems kind of shady in my opinion. Like what is the intent because I can’t even think of finding another person attractive.

If it’s a genuine complement there is nothing wrong with it. What it comes down to is the intentions behind a complement you can recognize someone’s beauty without feeling any attraction for someone.

So the intentions behind it, what was said, and the context makes a huge difference between a complement and flirting.

Not if she's just a friend of his, or a family member, or maybe a co-worker who he's just very close to and she doesn't mind him saying that.

But if he's saying that flirtatiously or randomly to just some attractive woman then I'd say that's not so good.

Not at all, my husband complements women and I have no problem with it. Now if it jumps into flirting... That's a different story
