I’m 15 and he’s going to college, and we made a deal to wait 3 years for each other. Am I making a mistake?

Hi, I really need honest advice. No sugarcoating—just tell me the truth. I’m a 15-year-old girl going into my sophomore year of high school. I’ve been talking to a guy who just graduated and is about to start college in the Virgin Islands. We’ve been talking for about 6 months, but over the last 2 months, we got really close. He was my first for a lot of things—including my first time sleeping with someone—and I’m completely in love with him. Now that he’s leaving for college, we made a deal. We agreed that for the next 3 years (until I graduate), we won’t date other people and that we’ll reunite when I turn 18 and graduate high school. But here’s the complicated part: • I proposed the deal. He was hesitant and said he didn’t want to hold me back. I convinced him. • We’re only allowed to talk once a week (Saturday mornings), just to give each other life updates. • He said he won’t date while at college, but he will still hook up with other people. • I’m not allowed to date, flirt, or hook up at all during the 3 years. • We added a “motivation clause” to help me stay focused in school: if I maintain a 4.0 GPA, he’ll consider taking me back when I graduate. • I accepted all this because I love him deeply and I don’t focus well on school when I’m talking to other guys anyway. But now I’m wondering if I’m being blinded by love. Is it healthy for me to wait 3 years while he’s off living his life? Is it fair that he gets hookups and freedom, while I have to stay loyal and quiet? Is it smart to tie my GPA and goals to the hope that he’ll still want me years from now? This isn’t just a summer fling. I gave him my heart. But I don’t know if I’m setting myself up for heartbreak or doing something romantic and loyal. Please be real with me—should I stick to this, or protect myself now?
