Do you mean for a relationship? I think in a relationship, a smaller age gap tends to work better because the partners tend to have more in common and a similar perspective. That's not always the case, of course.

My mom liked it better but to me it was about who I loved not the age but me and my husband have more in common with an age of 7 years apart then me and my ex who was 14 years apart
