I don't agree, but under what situation would you ask about someone's financial status? Sounds incredibly invasive.

If you've been dating for awhile, I'd think someone's financial status would slowly become clear. You can't see their 401k or their savings account, unless you're engaged to be married. And by that time, it's important to discuss both of your finances and how you'll spend and save money as a couple.

But there's no dating someone and seeing their finances. That's none of your business. As long as they aren't asking you for money and you're having a decent time together, that isn't important.

If your relationship becomes serious and you begin to have long-term plans, as in spending your lives together, Then it's absolutely essential.
