Should you make your dating app picture 6/10 or 10/10?

I was listening to the radio this morning and they were talking about dating app pictures. One lady called in to say that she fully believes in taking a dating app photo that presents her as maybe a 6 or 7 rather than a full blown 10/10. Her theory was that by posting a photo that wasn't super great, she left room for her to make herself look better through better hair/make-up and have her potential date be blown away that he got more than he bargained for when she shows up for their first date.

I'm not talking about digital alterations, only things like doing hair and make-up in reality as the caller wasn't talking about photoshop or filters. Also this is some random photo I found, not of the actual person. Didn't know how else to illustrate her point.

When I was in grade school when I was in high school. I think I might have 3 in grade school and maybe one in high school. Because I hated my pictures taken

Even to this day I don't even care about pictures
And i don't think i've had a picture taken looking the best. I can look or even in the right lighting. Even the pictures on here that I've used. They're terrible

My friends laugh at me all the time. And they say quit putting pictures up. They don't do you any Justice and I just smile. They say you look 10 times better a 100 times better than person and I just smile. The picture is not who I am the real me is in the inside of me the outside is to protect the real me and to experience every thing I can experience even love i gather the energy from them all and when I die. It will all come with me.
The outside of me will be disposed of.

There Is a lot of sense in posting a picture that presents the “normal” you but let’s be honest a female profile with no picture will still get attention.


I do recall using a dating app once and meeting up with a woman after chatting to her over a few weeks. I felt lied to when I had to call her to find where she was at our meeting place because I just could not see her and had to tell her how I felt , not because she was not pretty enough but rather the fact that I could not understand why this was the way she wanted to hopefully start a relationship , using a photo of her 10 years previous.

I’m with her… that’s what I do lol. I post pics that’s at least 6/10 to 8/10 with normal and decent pics. But goes out looking 8/10 to 10/10 like I normally would dress up when I go out to give pleasant surprise for dates in the past. I don’t wanna give a high expectation and see if someone can accept you the way you are in this way too. The only catch is some guys does like girls who seems or dress more low key, while I’m someone who dress up a lot lol. So it’s the only thing I was wary about is making sure they still like the me who actually enjoy dressing up more than dressing down.

How about you simply look good. Not a glamour shot because that doesn't truly represent you on a daily basis. Show what you look like to head to work.

You don't doll up to do your job, do you? Unless you work in NYC fashion. Don't undersell or oversell. The way you show up to meet your new date shouldn't surprize him or her in any way.

THEN if you go out to some place special at a later date you can doll up and look glam, or for the guys, sharp.

Better to look better in person than, “oh fck. She doesn’t look remotely like her photos.” In the negative context. Which is partly why I shit canned online dating years ago. The amount of times women looked remotely as good as they presented themselves in photos was a rarity. I think I was only surprised in the other direction a couple of times. Only once did a woman arrive looking dead on like her photos - which was still a great thing. Again, my experience was meeting those who largely looked no where as good as their photos. Don’t do the 10/10 thing. You gals are really good at finding flattering angles, lighting, and ‘filters’. Not remotely as great in person. Especially not the one who lied about her age by about 20 years.

I think anyone who debates this is putting far too much emphasis on outward attractiveness. I mean, first off neither of those pics are 10's. But each Pic there DIES say something about her. Like I advise guys you have to make your profile attractive to the widest number of women possible since dating is a numbers game with men. Women can afford to be more picky. So make you pics reflect the guy you want to approach. Of course if you show a lot of skin you're going to attract a lot of dogs (horndogs).

If you have to use photoshop to make yourself skinnier or taller or change things about your face then you’re doing too much


Because when you meet your date it will be apparent that the photo is highly edited

I say, make it as honest as possible. The more you make it seem fake, edited, or thirst trap. It raises red flags. If you want someone who want's you and not some persona mask, be honest with your pictures & intentions, while giving boundaries, and some options as a concersation starter.

I keep myself pretty quiet and not out in the public eye. I will never use a dating app. Or put my face out there , where it could or will effect my business.

That being said, if I were to put out selfies, I'd just be natural and myself. Hopefully everyone does the same.

They can create a 100% fake photo with themselves as subject and it’s undetectable to the naked eye
