Depends what you mean by "isn't employed". If her situation is similar to mine then it's fine. I worked hard in my youth so I could FIRE (financial, independence, retire, early) I'm not rich by any means. But I've made enough that I'm able to live modestly off of it, plus I have enough that I never use all my alloted earmarked distribution. So as long as the market stays good i stay ahead of inflation which means my financial situation improves. And the past three years have fabulous for the market and my portfolio.

Life is about surviving. And hopefully if your fortunate and you can get to a point where you can thrive, then life is about seeking what truly makes you happy. I invest that's what drives me. I don't care if she's employed as she's following her passion and it has some utility to the world. Because a life without dreams or drive is not a life worth living. Everyone needs something that lights them up, that gets them out of bed everyday.

If he’s actively looking for work (i. e. putting in applications, going on interviews, etc), yes. If he’s just a mooching bum, not a chance in hell.

Warning to women... DO NOT date unemployed men, tell them you will date them if they get a job and when they get a job, date them. You will have done them a favour!

For men this is different, it's our duty to work as hard as possible for you and the kids, for the nest and only expect you to go to work if you feel you need to without foregoing your own duties.

And I am so-so sorry if that offends any of you. I'm so sorry that men like me WANT to sacrifice for you and any bundles of joy your bring to our lives and then die knowing that you and our babies are set up for life and MIGHT JUST appreciate it and see all of this the same way.

I doubt it


Last girl I hung with was unemployed and honestly she had too much free time
Constantly needing attention
Needing me to be there


She didn’t need my money as she was supporting by family while she returned to school for a psychology degree.


But it quickly became a problem
“You value your job more than me”
Type situation


And yes I did value my job more than her to be fair
But it was a new job, more money, more responsibilities.
While she was a bit of a summer vacation fling with more red flags than communist China

Longs if ones not purposefully just trying to take money from me I don't see why I wouldn't. And if I was wealthy I'd obviously support to some extent but I'd make sure I wasn't been taken advantage of.

I'd be open too it, but I would need to understand why they were unemployed. I know I wouldn't want to leach off anybody if I was unemployed.
