What is a classic advice phrase you hate to hear?

I posted about how I’m deciding to stay single since I have zero luck with dating and I get your trying to give advice but geez almost everyone said
“your young” or “just wait it’ll come to you” like seriously… everyone says that, you see it multiple times in the comments and your just gonna say the same exact thing?
and then the ones saying it are always the ones who don’t struggle with dating at all, like how are you gonna give me advice and you’ve never been in this position? It’s giving false advertisement. It gets annoying to a point, if you’ve only been single a year or two max before getting into another relationship stop giving advice to people who have been single since they were born and have a hard time finding someone who likes them, unless you know someone that’s been in that position. Cause what your saying won’t mean anything, cause the only thing you can do to back your advice is say “after my last relationship I was single for 3 months then got it another one, so just wait it’ll come”

So basically we’re damned if we do and damned if we don’t lol. Sure we can say the advice you get is cliche but what else could strangers possibly say to such a generic situation? Saying that you choose not to date because you have bad luck isn’t some sort of nuanced, intricate statement, so I don't know why you’d expect anything other than basic responses. If you specifically want to speak with others who’ve never been in a relationship, never dated (aka the blind leading the blind) then maybe you should put a disclaimer or something so that people with actual experience don’t bother with your posts.

Lmaoo. I’d rather speak to someone that’s had a hard time dating and finally did meet someone than someone who’s had it easy there entire life and feels like they can give great advice on something they’ve never experienced.
I think the funniest thing about it is, that women give some of the most horrible cliche advice I’ve ever heard. The men at least keep it real and give actual advice. Women say “your so pretty, surely you can find a guy” “if you just wait you’ll find one eventually” but then again.. it’s women that have had no trouble dating or weren’t classified as “ugly” that give the shit advice

So what advice could you expect from someone who’s either had a hard time dating or has never dated at all? How could those people tell you how to succeed when they’ve been unable to do so themselves? Are you just looking for one big pity party where you all vent about your bad experiences and encourage each other to do better, wishing each other luck? Because that’s just a support group and sites like these aren’t exactly meant for that. I guess I’m just not sure what sort of non-cliche advice you’re seeking that isn’t based off someone’s lived experience. If I were to tell you to be patient you’d call that a cliche as well but it’s just a fact of the matter, I tried dating throughout my 20s and didn’t meet my fiancé until I turned 30.

If someone is expressing that they have a hard time with something and shows that they are losing hope in it from it being a constant thing in there life, no one wants to hear “just wait”.
Also I said that people who HAVE had that same experience should be giving that advice and have eventually got the outcome they were hoping/waiting for, not someone who’s had it easy.
I mean hey it’s great that you got to “try” dating in your 20’s and now you’re engaged.
But I guarantee that some point in your life you got tired of hearing the same thing over and over again

Obviously you don’t want to hear just wait, it doesn’t sound like you wanna hear anything that involves doing that. There just isn’t a lot of advice for someone in your position and being angry at the world about it isn’t gonna fix it.

"Never go to bed angry at each other" is very unrealistic to me. Some people need more time than others to process and figure things out. Nothing wrong with that what is wrong is trying to enforce that on others.

It also depends on culture. Like in Indian culture, south Asian parents push their kids for marriage. I don't know about West culture but the pressure on that side is lower as compared to Asian/Indian. I'm in my early 30s so imagine my situation...

Yeah my mom is white and my dad is black… it doesn’t help that the white women around me have no trouble getting into relationships. Plus my parents are older, and don’t want to die knowing that I’m alone. Which honestly might be what happens

I'm south Asian. Dating freely isn't a thing here. My parents also want to see me dating marrying a girl. At this point I want a regular talkative chat buddy instead of relationship because I don't have any luck.

Makes sense. I’d love a partner, I’m just not lucky enough to have one unfortunately. Doesn’t help that my parents had me and my brother at an older age that they now don’t have much time left. So not much that I can do about it, and they don’t understand why it’s so hard

In age range of 19-30. I think it all depends on some things, good communication, understanding, mutual trust more instead of Physical looks.
