Number one reason is overcompensating. Showing love and affection to cover up a affair… Sometimes things can seem to be going really well again after a rough patch. But that’s simply to blind you… Sometimes it’s genuine guilt that they feel and are trying to make it up. Other times they feel no guilt shame or remorse but don’t want to get caught.

Another reason is called compartmentalization. They know their role to play in a relationship and some people are so double minded and cognitively dissident that they make themselves believe it… And the person cheating is like another person. They believe their own lies.

Also, narcissists rarely leave on their own without a plan. By the time you’re discarded they already have a replacement. They’re just keeping you from finding out about it and making you believe all is still going well in the relationship. They’re doing all the things they are expected of why be suspicious. Until… one day. They’re gone.
