There are many directions necessary to point fingers at, so i will only point at the one that nobody else is pointing. While 18 year olds are still children and all that with their bodies still developing its own organs (so less resources available for a child's development compared to a 25 year old), I'll emphasize the flaw of consent worship.

Just because someone consents, doesn't mean it's good for them. Adult drug addicts consent to toxic substances, and it's similar to 18 year olds consenting to sexual contact.

"Consent laws" replace active moral outlooking, much like drug bans replace educated awareness of toxic effects and people will always find workarounds. ㅤ

It would be helpful for many to think of sex as "always likely to result in pregnancy". Rates of all forms of degeneracy will plummet.

LOL. Well... there's kind of a long list.

Recalling back when I was 18, "hot tight innocent thing" was a thing. I was very "charming" at that age... charming being code for clueless about guys. A lot of guys used to chase me down back then. MOST of them athletes claiming they needed tutoring, one who bust up his knee and needed me to come to his house with notes and stuff from class. They were all intrigued that the only thing I was chasing was time in the computer lab to type up my papers... that a dance was just a dance... that "naughty" for me was staying out an hour past curfew or spoiling my dinner with a pint of frozen yogurt. (Sigh.)

It's a sort of fascination with being the first guy to walk you home or to hold your books for you or to dance with you... Anything they can be your "first" with makes them feel like a titan among men.

It was very cute, actually... In retrospect I appreciate having that attention, though I never took any of those guys up on their offers for anything beyond the claimed tutoring... perhaps a coffee.

But then there's the DOM (Dirty Old Man) factor, which I always thought was gross. The TA who wants to hold you back after class or the professor who expects you to see him after hours because he insists you're "off track".

Back then there were only a handful of guys I would trust, including two faculty members. Everyone else I kept at arms length.

16-18yo gals today aren't as innocent as we were back in my time... but you still need to watch your back. Not because you've seen stuff online do you know and understand the world and how dubious guys can be.

It is not illegal to date someone under the age of 18. It is only illegal to have sex with someone under the age of 18. So your argument is moot. As for why someone might want to date an 18 year old woman; it probably has to do with female fertility basically ending by 40. So they want to maximize their partner's child bearing years for a potential marriage; while still dating someone who is an adult. That or peak attractiveness is in everyone's 20s so they want to get into a relationship with someone who is only going to get more attractive, again who is still an adult when they start dating. But that is just off the top of my head about two well known facts; though most feminists don't want to admit that they are both true.

As for a fully developed brain, your brain is 95% developed by age 6. Grey matter declines after 12. Whereas, white matter doesn't stop increasing, but peaks at 30. As such, complete brain development is a terrible metric for adulthood as it never really stops in adulthood. I am sorry you feel that being rational is a detrimental approach to making decisions especially when arguing about societal norms.
