Trending & News There was a time when my wife and I both worked at the same place. It was actually pretty cool.
Oh wow that is cool.
You're welcome!
I did, married her, had 3 kids, and amicably divorced after 20 years of marriage.

I've never understood why some people refuse to date someone they work with. Like, if I found a girl that was extremely compatible with me and every moment with her feels like a breath of fresh air, why would pass on her just because she works with me? I'd rather take a shot and ask her out. If she says no, that's fine. Moving on.
exactly - people can switch teams or departments. Life is too short to give up happiness for a job
Maybe but it would be something to think about, for one thing you might still see them a lot if you break up, for another even if you do not break up, sometimes you might prefer your space, also if one of you became the other one’s supervisor or even was friends with the other one’s supervisor it could get weird. That said if the relationship seems promising, it might be worth the risk. JMO!
Yes, if I was genuinely attracted to her. Especially if I didn’t work directly with her. But if I wasn’t really into her I wouldn’t risk it.
Not just any coworker for sure
It’s a recipe for disaster
But the right person comes into your life in unexpected situations sometimes
I recently met a coworker with whom I get along in ways I rarely ever do with other people
But she’s dating so there’s no prospects for us
Still I tell myself: if we were both single I would definitely take the risk of asking her out
I don’t know how your case is, but keep in mind that dating = drama.
So be careful not to shit where you eat as they say
If you do it make sure it’s done with the upmost care
If you don't work with each other on a day-in day-out basis... i. e. merely contact from time to time for work tasks. Crucially, if you aren't up and down, so to speak, in the same reporting line. Then sure. It makes it easy to catch up for coffee during the day so a slight positive. In 25 years, my wife and I were in the same organisation for about 10 years, sometimes represented different areas at the same internal meetings, but never worked together.
If those conditions don't hold. It has the potential to end very badly for one or both of your careers. If it's more than a couple of dates, one of you probably needs to initiate an internal transfer. Even if it takes a couple of months for the company to accommodate, it means you have disclosed the conflict of interest and are actively managing it. Inevitably that involves a loss of some privacy at work. It's doable, but it isn't safe for you unless you make it safe.
That's generally okay. The reason you shouldn't date a coworker is because of two main reasons.
1) One of you may be promoted above the other. This creates a power imbalance, which can strain relationships, especially when the relationship has a dom-sub (regardless of how small) aspect to it.
2) Cooldown time is nonexistent. Conflicts with your S. O. will arise. They always do. That's not a sign of a failing relationship. In the heat of the moment, you are not thinking rationally. However, when you go off to work, you are not in contact with them, and you can clear your head and cool down. But, if you work with your S. O. you don't have that time, you're working with them and the issue is always on your mind because seeing them the entire day doesn't allow any time to cool down. In fact, this lack of cool down time is one of the leading causes of gray divorce (divorce among two people who are retirees).
I have twice.. The first is where we both worked at the Musuem but completely different departments as well.. So we hardly saw each other.. It wasn't bad.. I know people discourage it, but work is not a bad place to meet people.. As long as it's not a higher up.. Or if it doesn't workout the people can actually act like 2 adults and remain professional if they see each other..
I haven't, but have known other people who did, including some who eventually got married to each other.
Probably better if you don't work in the same team, as it could get tricky if the relationship doesn't last but you still have to work together.
I wouldn’t do it unless this was some type of situation where I didn’t plan on staying at that job. Can’t really see any Pros to dating someone who works at the same company. if the relationship south no you have relationship, drama and work drama.
back in the day I definitely slept with more cocktail waitresses than I should have, now a little older and wiser I would do everything in my power to avoid mixing business with pleasure, but obviously if it was the girl of my dreams I would have to make an exception
Yes but only if it happens the natural way. If I see a guy from my work pop up on tinder it will be a swipe left no matter what.
But unlikely to happen because it's like 90% women. Only in management you see a lot more guys.
Dating someone at the same company can be tricky, you get built-in time together and shared understanding of work stress, but office gossip, awkward breakups, or conflicts spilling into work are real risks. If you’re unsure, taking it slow and setting boundaries is key. For guys navigating dating dynamics like this, a dating coach for men can give practical advice on balancing romance and professionalism.
Pro: Easy to find them and you can rideshare if schedules permit.
Con: You still may have to see them regularly if things don't work out.
I used to work in a place where there were several married couples who had met there. It wasn't discouraged as our top manager had met his wife there, though she no longer worked there by the time I started.
The job is bollocks.
Relationship is always more important.
Maturity helps, too. Don't get involved with idiots, or sluts, don't use people, and have some emotional maturity. That solves most of your problems.
I did.
you have to be REALLY careful about this. the more adult you are the better it can work.
two immature children should not date, definitely not at work. you decide if both are adults.
Only if you want your personal business to become gossip among your co-workers. There are also job performance and team cohesion issue to consider.
Dating within the same company is generally a bad idea.
I dated girls at work before and a couple of them became girlfriends.
I know people who met at work and got married.
Work and school can be good places to meet people.
I would. I think working in different departments would be ideal, though. Think about it. You wouldn’t be around each other all day so you wouldn’t be distracted by each other.
There is a saying: You don’t fish off of the company dock.
Many places have rules against it. It causes problems. But if you must, keep it quite and one of you may have to change companies.
Sure! I don't see why not. My girlfriend and I plan to work at the same place when she gets over here.
My ex-fiance and I used to work at the same restaurant.
yes, just dont be on the same team. Life is too short to prioritize a company over lifelong happiness if you think you could love the person.
I would, but you either have to keep it on the down low or follow a lot of rules
No!
Never fuck your own company!
I have it was fine.
There were a couple other guys that were after her, so it was fun to watch their reactions.
Been there and done that and would never do it again!!
I did once. It became very awkward. Don't think I'd ever try again
Um 🤔 is it against your policy?
If not and it goes bad he may become a supervisor/boss or have to work closely with him and you may but heads.
No way. If things don't work out, there will be complaints circulated within the company.
Possibly but she'd have to be something else.
That would depend on where I'm working at, and what the boss or human resources thinks about that.
Only if I would be able to be completely separated from her in case things don't go well.
I only thought about it but never did anything. I've been the boss now for 13yrs so it wouldn't work
No. Work gossip. And if you break up, there could be shit talking... no one needs that drama.
Yes and no. If she works in a different location, sure. But not side by side
Yes, in the past, I've done that. It worked out nicely for a while.
If they aren't your boss. There is no reason not to fuck them.
"I'm going to focus on myself!"
That lasted long. 😂
That creates problems, you need your space somewhere
I wouldn't seek it out but I'd be open to it.
Definitely. Many relationships begin at work.
I would but with extreme caution.
always avoided it but were few i wished i tried
Have done and it was fine
Yes I would
No, I would not.
Nah. Too risky.
Simples...
Oops, I did, then I married her!
No I wouldn't.

Definitely not
Nope.

No, I wouldn't.
